It's been said that good things come to those who wait. And that is the part we are at in our adoption journey. Waiting. Now that we are homestudy approved, we wait to be matched with a family who feels they are unable to parent their child.
Many have said that the adoption process is a rollercoaster of emotions, and we are finding that to be true, in many ways. From the overwhelming anxiety of not knowing when, to the doubt that creeps in, and the fear of the unknown. There's a feeling of sadness for all the children waiting to be adopted, who need homes. Then feelings joy of knowing that something great is on the horizon. Anticipation, love, happiness, caution, respect, appreciation, confusion, and hope.
Emotion after emotion.
Some days are easier than others, and then there are days that you question if all that you're doing is worth it.
Friends, we aren't giving up, we are simply being transparent about where we are in the adoption process, and sharing what we are going through.
We know that sometimes the hard things that we go through in life, they put us directly on the path to the best things that will ever happen.
We know that God has a plan, we know that He has it all worked out, and we know that it'll happen in His time. Sometimes "our time" is not His time. We are thankful for the journey so far, and we are looking forward to where this journey takes us!
At some point, we crossed the line from knowing it could happen at any time to...we're not waiting any longer to get prepared. In a mix of preparation and anxiousness, we have a fully equipped nursery; thanks to some very generous family members who purchased items for us, such as the crib, and rocker/glider. We've painted and decorated, and now only wait for the little blessing that will call us mama and daddy <3
Having the nursery prepared will benefit us in the long run, especially if we get a last minute call and are placed with a child!
In anticipation of the new year to come, we are excited to share another opportunity for you to help us in our adoption journey. We chose January 1st to roll out our next fundraiser, and hope that you'll stay tuned, and watch for that to be shared! We hope that you are able to be a part of this great opportunity in bringing home our missing piece!
Talk soon, friends!
Love,
Kevin & Amber
