All the good things I have are from you. Psalm 16:2.
One year ago today, Kevin and I sat in our church, not aware of what would transpire that day in our hearts. Service started out like any other, we started with worship, communion, and offering, and then things changed. There were three outreach ministries from Springfield in service with us, about to share with the congregation their ministry and what they do. I remember this as if it were yesterday. Second up to talk was Angela Boblitt, Director of Choosing Hope Adoptions. As I listened to Angela speak that day, there was a stirring in our spirits and hearts.
A Christian Adoption Agency, right here in Springfield, Ohio? I had no idea.
I remember being in service with my mom and dad that day, and I remember the nudging coming from my mom, as Angela talked. A few whispers to Kevin, and a few questions; and once Angela was done speaking, I was eager to know more.
Kevin and I began our relationship knowing that it would be impossible for us together to have a child, naturally. We tried fertility treatments early on in our marriage without success. But adoption? It wasn't ever really anything we seriously considered. It was very expensive, and at the time, not for us, or so we thought.
But one year ago today, that all changed.
The Lord spoke into our lives, and from that service on Sunday, August 28th, He put a desire in our hearts to know more.
I remember going to lunch with my parents after church that Sunday, and while driving there, my heart raced; I remember talking to Kevin...
Was this really a possibility?
Could we adopt?
We had so many questions, so many uncertainties. I remember discussing the possibility over lunch with mom and dad that afternoon. I think we were all excited about the idea of adoption, and it was nice to talk about the possibilities.
Two days passed, and I couldn't put it off any longer. I emailed Angela, and asked as many questions as we could think of. After many emails were exchanged, we had received the necessary paperwork required to start the process. By September 14th, we had turned in our pre-application.
While it was one year ago today that desire was put in our hearts, that very desire is still there, stronger now than ever.
We've experienced quite a bit since then. The Lord allowed our pre-application fees, application fees and home study fees to all be paid by generous donors. We didn't have to come up with any of the money required to start the process. He has provided from the very beginning. And we are trusting that He will provide until the very end of this journey.
Since announcing our adoption journey in October of last year, $7550.00 has been raised - which is half of what is needed to bring home our baby. Now that's God! He has done some pretty amazing things; and it's truly humbling to see how He's worked through each of you to help make this possible!
We've saved money ourselves, sold adoption t-shirts, had a bake sale, sold puzzle pieces to help bring home our missing piece, we've even had a garage sale. And you have all showed your support by helping us reach a goal, of what at times, seems impossible. We aren't there yet, but we have faith that we will be!
We are thankful for you. Thankful for the prayers, the words of encouragement, the donations, and everything that you have done for our family.
It's been an adventurous year, and a tough one. We knew this journey wouldn't be easy. But we are trusting that through it all, He is working behind the scenes, preparing our hearts, and our lives for the blessing that He will one day bring into our lives. No, it's not happened yet, but it's coming. And when it does, and we are holding that precious babe in our arms, we will know that all we've endured this last year has been for a reason. God is up to something, and I can't wait to see what He does!
We still have puzzle pieces available, they are $20.00 each. When you buy or "adopt" a puzzle piece, your name goes on the back of that piece. Once all pieces have sold, we will assemble the puzzle that will go in our baby's nursery, so that he or she can see all who helped bring home, our missing piece.
We have a new fundraisers coming up! A Baby Bottle Campaign...Details COMING SOON!
We love you, friends! Please keep on prayin <3
